RAYUELA the European project to prevent cybercrime in minors

Gregorio Lopez, a telecommunications engineer born in Algeciras, coordinates the ambitious European Rayuela project that seeks to prevent online crimes in children through an appealing interactive video game. The idea arose from Lopez’s desire to dedicate his work to something that would benefit his children. Rayuela is a game where minors are part of a secret club that helps people with internet problems. Players get involved in cases inspired by natural issues like harassment, human trafficking, grooming, scams, or fake news.

Unlike tedious traditional talks, the goal is to reach children enjoyably and effectively. The game allows the analysis of the influence of these crimes at an early age and proposes guidelines to address them. With 17 partners in 9 countries, pilot tests have already been conducted with 1600 children across Europe.
